Ichcha, pronounced [itch-chah], evolves from the Hindi language and means a wish. Ichcha was founded by three sisters: a dreamer, a tree hugger, and a conscious artist. Coming from different career backgrounds, they bring a common aspirational desire to the team of Ichcha, the wish to encourage conscious living.
Growing up as diplomat children, they spent years learning and experiencing worldwide cultures. This encouraged them to be aware of the environment, discover new territories, make new friends, and go beyond the border. As they became aware of their footprint on this planet and in each others' lives, they took the responsibility to ensure their work was a step towards a conscious being.
They now work as craft travelers, traveling through various regions of India, making friends, and working with them on products that revive the time of the past. Their use of age old slow craft processes, ensures the longevity of the crafts and increases the value of what customers purchase.
ICHCHA's mission is to encourage conscious living by creating products that are made from re-using waste material, using dyes that are natural and made from trees, barks, flowers, etc, working with artisanal crafts, and especially encouraging women from low income families. Due to their handmade nature, the products are made with utmost awareness of it’s creation, life, and after life. We care not only about how it was made but also about how it is fairing with the customer and most importantly what are its options post retirement.
